Location

The archeological zone of Xochicalco is located southwest of Morelos state, continue on highway number 95 (Mexico-Acapulco) until arriving at a fork in the road, go towards Alpuyeca. Before the Lake there is another fork that you will come to this will take you to the state highway that will take you all the way to Xochicalco.

Xochicalco means "In the place of the house of the flowers", it is located on an assembly of low-lying hills, the main hills include the wine Cellar, The Malinche and Xochicalco. Xochicalco was leveled in order to build the most important buildings, the slopes had to be modified to permit the construction of houses and to remove certain impediments that blocked the free access to the property.

The development and height of this city-state took place during a relatively short period, known like Epiclásico (650-900 d.C.), in which new forms of cultural, economic, and political organization because of the slope arose of Teotihuacan as center hegemónico; this permitted the social mobility, the re-organization of the settlements, different forms of relation and exchange between the towns and the growth of other cities
